As reports have suggested that it’s working on a mobile title, Bungie is hoping to expand its game portfolio beyond PC and consoles. Now, a patent filing suggests work is beginning to progress.
A new patent was filed in March 2022 by The Game Post. There is also a patent for Virtual Button Charging, and could be related to the use of the auto-sprint feature in a game like PUBG Mobile. Other patents include, among others, the swapping, aiming and other action buttons on the screen. All this points to a mobile FPS title, which can be set in the Destiny universe.

The news that Bungie developed a mobile title broke in July 2022, when it was revealed that NetEase helped to get the game started. There doesn’t seem to be a mobile version of Destiny 2, but rather something else altogether. The rumors claim that Bungie has built his own mobile game engine, which makes us think this upcoming game will be more than a Destiny 2 port.
In addition to that, Bungie is also looking to expand its horizons beyond video games. It recently got acquired by Sony for 3,6 billion dollars. The Japanese console giant has mentioned how it plans to help Bungie expand the Destiny universe.
For this, Bungie has all Sony’s resources and expertise left to its disposal. There is also no doubt the Destiny developer made significant progress on this front, with recent hires suggesting that its first project is going to be a Destiny animated TV show. This is particularly useful since Sony also owns two of the world’s largest anime streaming platforms, Funimation and Crunchyroll.
Although Bungie is not making any progress on other projects, it looks like it’s got a big hit in its push against cheat manufacturers. So far, it has sued at least three such hack sellers, which was awarded in damages for one in one manufacturer entrusted. However, the accused, AimJunkies, is back, and has countersued Bungie for logging and DMCA violations.
